"Above all, be the heroine of your life, not the victim." — Nora Ephron
What would you do if you truly believed you could have it all?
There's a fabulous Florence and the Machine song on her new album where she sings "you can have it all" and I feel it in my bones.
While the ending of the song speaks to her feelings about how it wasn't in the cards during her pregnancy (she had an ectopic pregnancy that almost ended her life), the album is fully a reclamation of the power we all contain to shape and guide our lives far more fully than many of us take ownership over.
My own success governor is far too often locked in "good enough" mode.
I have a quiet, subconscious fear of outshining others, and a fear that if I really went after everything I wanted most in this life, in all areas of my life, it might actually come to fruition. And honestly, that scares me for reasons my conscious brain doesn't even have words to fully describe.
But thankfully I've done enough healing work to know that's my actual fear. I'm aware of it so that I can do something about the irrational fear that if I get everything I've ever wanted, that it could either be taken away, or that I'll get too big in my head and alienate those I most love in this world.
Checking My ABCs (Agreements, Beliefs, & Conditioning)
In the spirit of Florence's song, I've been toying with what it would feel like to believe 1000% in the "and" of life, and for me it would look more like believing this:
I can grow successful businesses AND be an amazing human, wife, and mother
I can take deliberate, intuitive action to take action toward what I see next for myself AND be content with all that I have
I can be wildly grateful for what I have and the love I gave and received in the first 40 years of my life AND want even more joy, pleasure, and abundance for my next 40
I won't say I have it all figured out on my path to believing I can have it all. Pesky doubts come up and I feel stalled in taking intuitive action because what if... insert any bad thing that could happen.
But I'm getting better at calling myself out on my own bullshit IRL.
Because I know that living my life on fire looks like unshakeable trust that I can have it all, built on a foundation of believing in the power of "and" and knowing I am infinitely capable of adapting along the way.
So, my dear friend, what would it look like if you trusted that you could have it all? The fulfilling work, the deep relationships, the abundance you dream of?
Sounds a lot like asking yourself: How Good Can It Get? And you best believe, I'm here for that. all. day. every. day.
Sincerely,
Bree

This week's did you know…The cuts keep coming
Employees at several major companies are bearing the brunt of a tough business environment. Cuts to pensions, parental leave, and 401(k) match programs are among the latest ways companies are shoring up cash to fund tech transformations.
If your vision of having it all has includes robust benefits package as part of the foundation, it's a good time to revisit the blueprint (SMH)…
But here's the thing. Employers make business decisions, and you get to make your own decisions for you too. And the most strategic one right now is investing in something that no company restructuring can touch: your own skills, your own income streams, your own joy. Policies get rewritten with a memo. What you invest in for yourself travels with you, wherever you go.
