Conscious Leadership: Why the Inner Work Comes First
Weekly Dose of Work Recovery Vol. 1.22.25
Why Conscious Leadership Matters
True leadership starts from within. Examining yourself – your habits, beliefs, and stress response – is the key to creating wellbeing and fulfillment in your work.
Conscious leadership isn’t just about managing others; it’s about regulating yourself, aligning with your values, and fostering connection and clarity.
There was a time when I led from a place of seeking approval, driven by a need to please others and make them proud. I worked tirelessly, abandoning myself and my values in the process. The ego and dopamine hits from grinding and achieving enormous success at work were intoxicating, but they came at a steep personal cost—strained relationships, deteriorating mental and physical wellbeing, and when shit hit the fan, a deep sense of emptiness.
I learned the hard way that no matter how much I gave, work would never love me back. It took a major rupture in my career to force me to look in the mirror and confront the unsustainable path I was on. Through healing my work wounds, I shifted my focus inward, began leading and taking action in service of my values and, as a result, tapped into a greater purpose and consciousness.
The result? Deeper, more meaningful relationships, more fulfilling relationship to my work, and more joy in every area of life.
My life's mission is to help others confront their ABC's (Agreements, Beliefs, Conditioning) on work and success and worthiness in order to redefine their relationship to work and to leadership on their own terms. It's the inner work to build leadership from a more conscious and intentional place that creates powerful shifts and transformations.

This Week's Did You Know?
Apparently aggression, defensiveness, and “masculinity” is in for 2025 and seeking to create more inclusive workplaces is “neutering” workplace culture and is out…
This headline came from Mark Zuckerberg who said, “I think having a culture that celebrates the aggression a bit more has its own merits that are really positive.” What's your take - does your org or biz needs more “aggression"?
Given discrimination charges filed with the EEOC and other markers of workplace harm rose last year, I find it unlikely that more aggression is going to increase belonging, org trust & reputation, and help retain top talent…Source: Zuckerberg Calls for Masculine Energy

A listen: Using guided meditations on Insight Timer, I do a daily meditation to help me quiet the noise and tune in. This meditation was profoundly helpful to see bigger visions for myself: What Your Higher Self Wants You to Know.
A learn: This weekend I was glad to be an elder millennial who isn't on the TikTok train… Other than creating a massive amount of stress for anyone who uses the app for their business, the TikTok's return less than 5 hours after going dark was a real whiplash experience for millions.
A shoutout: The four speakers on the first EU Speaker Series have helped me navigate many firsts in kicking off our monthly programming for 2025. Thank you to Ina Coveney, Kelly Stevens, Andrea Herbert, and Caroline Pennington!
Something I love: Enhancing my financial wellbeing. This month, I'm doing a No Spend Challenge hosted by Lindsey Konchar and it's helped me reset so many unnecessary autopilot spending habits. Try it in February - necessities are a yes (think groceries, bills, subscriptions you use) and all the waste (treat yo self restaurants, doordash, beauty, clothing, etc. is a “no spend”).
