Just Because You Can, Doesn’t Mean You Should: A Reintroduction to Work Recovery

Weekly Dose of Work Recovery Vol. 6.4.25

It’s been a while since I’ve written you personally, so consider this a reintroduction.

Over the last six weeks, our family made one of the biggest moves of our life—literally and figuratively. We listed and sold our “dream” home, sorted through years of memories, and made big decisions about what’s next, together as a family with our values and intentions in the driver seat. We also were faced with major schedule disruption and spring sicknesses too.

In all of the boxes and in all of our big emotions, I kept coming back to one mantra:

“Just because you can, doesn't mean you should.”

That single sentence helped me hold my center when everything felt chaotic. It reminded me that I choose what gets my very limited energy. It reminded me to pause, to be intentional, and to trust the rhythms of rest and rise. Not everything can go full steam at once, and that’s okay.

Some things, like our private mentorship mastermind Alchemy, remained a steady heartbeat during the past six weeks. Other things—like launching new content or sharing publicly about what all was happening—were placed gently on the back burner. And that’s what discernment makes possible: to stay in devotion without being in burnout.

Now, with clearer energy and solid ground beneath me, I’m ready to reintroduce not just myself—but the movement that’s been quietly unfolding behind the scenes.

It’s called Work Recovery.

Work Recovery is a new category and a new conversation. It's for women who are ambitious and exhausted. For leaders who want to live well without leaving their work behind. For those who have done the burnout cycle more than once—and know there has to be another way.

We don’t need more productivity hacks.
We need nervous system repair.
We need emotional safety in leadership.
We need practices that regulate, rewire, and restore.

That’s what Work Recovery offers.

In the coming weeks, I’ll be sharing more—about the method, the products, the podcast, and the movement. But today, I simply wanted to say:

I’m here.
I’ve never been more clear.

And if you’re ready to build something sustainable to stress less and feel more joy from the inside out, I think you’re going to love what’s coming.

With heart,
Bree

P.S. If you're navigating a transition—or still recovering from one—I’m hosting a free Work Recovery Challenge this June (adjusted from May because…see above :) to help you reset your nervous system, recalibrate your direction, and reclaim your energy. Join the early list here.

This Week's Did You Know? Mom's Mental Health Is In Da Toilet

A recent study reveals significant declines in both physical and mental health among mothers, based on self-reported data using a four-point scale. While the findings may not surprise many moms, they’re deeply concerning: mental health is worsening just as emotional and financial support systems continue to erode. The rise in social isolation and substance use disorders only compounds the pressure many moms face.

If you know a mom of young children, it’s safe to say she doesn’t just need a hand. She likely needs a few uninterrupted hours to breathe. Check in with loved ones, even the strong ones.

Links & Resources We Love Right Now

  • A listen: This week I'm sharing a mini series on the How Good Can It Get? podcast called “A Season of Change” where I'm sharing the big leap changes we've made lately. I'd love to hear what you think of it…

  • A learn: Functional Unemployment data is a more inclusive measure that doesn't leave out the folks who are underemployed, working several jobs, or not able to find a job in their chosen field. It's expected that more and more professional positions will be axed thanks to AI, leaving millions more functionally unemployed. The best thing to do is enhance your learning on new subjects and save as much as you can for reserves.

  • A shoutout: In the last newsletter I highlighted how the MN Wild, Wolves, & Frost (pro women's hockey) were all going to the playoffs. Well, spoiler…only the women brought home the hardware. The rest left us adding to our 34 year championship drought.

  • Something I love: Taking bold action that few others understand from the outside and watching the rest unfold to be even better than we expected. Cheers to BIG LEAPS!
